Wednesday Jan 9---
Briefly Describe the project:
~This week Jonathan and I continued working on the computer we have been trying to fix. It seems we have tried everything we can to fix it, but it still is not working.
Also, I am going to document a side project that I have done.

What have you accomplished this week?
~This week me and Jonathan tried to fix the computer that we were working on, but nothing is working.

What problems have you overcome this week?
~Unfortunately we have not overcome and problems this week.

What are the most significant problems you face at this time?
~Getting the computer that we are working on to work, but it seems that the only thing we can do now is salvage it for parts.

What materials or information do you need? How do you plan on getting these materials or information?
~If we were to salvage our computer we would need a screwdriver and a few other tools.

Thurs Dec 20---
Briefly Describe the project:
~This week Jonathan and I continued work on our computer that we are trying to fix.

What have you accomplished this week?
~We have gotten it to turn on and we have changed the boot order.

What problems have you overcome this week?
~A problem we have encountered is not being able to get the computer to read the ubuntu disk that we put in and we still are unable to figure out what to do about that.

What are the most significant problems you face at this time?
~Getting the computer to run off of the ubuntu disk and installing ubuntu on the computer.

What materials or information do you need? How do you plan on getting these materials or information?
~Not sure. It seems we have tried everything and the only other thing we can do is take it apart.

Friday Dec.14---
Briefly Describe the project:
~We are currently fixing a computer that had a sign on it that said "Cannot boot" We got it to power up but we havnt gotten it to run proberly.

What have you accomplished this week?
~We changed the boot order on the computer that we are fixing.

What problems have you overcome this week?
~This week we got the computer that we are fixing to power up.

What are the most significant problems you face at this time?
~We still face the problem of getting the computer to run properly.

What materials or information do you need? How do you plan on getting these materials or information?
~We just need to try different things to get it to work.

Thursday Dec. 6---
Briefly Describe the project:
~This week I finished my side project, which was to do a destructive system recovery on the desktop computer at home, which basically restored it to the way it was when my family bought it. Also, Jonathan and I have taken apart two computers that were declared broken and stored away the parts that we acquired from it. Also, just today we took a computer that had a sign on it that said "Cannot boot", we thought about what could possibly make a computer not able to run, and then we replaced the power supply and tried it and we replaced the processor and tried it. After I suggested replacing the processor and after we did that, THE COMPUTER WORKED. We fixed it.

What have you accomplished this week?
~Finished side project, salvaged 2 computers for parts, and fixed a computer.

What problems have you overcome this week?
~We fixed a computer that was thought to be broken.

What are the most significant problems you face at this time?
~No problems at this time.

What materials or information do you need? How do you plan on getting these materials or information?
~Jonathan and I are now going to see if we can get the computer that we fixed up and running and see if we can install ubuntu on it.

Thursday Nov. 29---
Briefly Describe the project:
This week me and Jonathan finished our computer. We upgraded it as far as we fealt we could then wrote a document describing what we did to it and turned it in. Also, Jonathan is making another ethernet cable for his LAN party.

What have you accomplished this week?
~This week we finished our computer and wrote a document on how we have improved it over the course of the class.

What problems have you overcome this week?
~No problems encountered this week.

What are the most significant problems you face at this time?
~No problems, we just need to start working on another computer.

What materials or information do you need? How do you plan on getting these materials or information?
~Another computer to work on.

Thurs. Nov. 15---

Briefly Describe the project:
~Everyone in the class thought up a side project that they can do at home on a computer. Mine was wiping it and reinstalling windows so that we can start over and clean it up and make it faster (possibly). We are now also, figuring out how to do file sharing. Today we also learned how to find our computer's information and when we did we put it on a document and turned it in to Mr. Connors.

What have you accomplished this week?
~Figured out how to do file sharing. We shared a file that we made. We also figured out our computer's hard drive information.

What problems have you accomplished this week?
~We figured out how to do file sharing. We also figured out where to find our computer's information.

What are the most significant problems you face at this time?
~ no problems at this time. We are probably going to start a new project soon.

What materials or information do you need? How do you plan on getting these materials or information?
~I think we are going to start a new project soon, so I do not know what materials or information we need.

Wed. October 24---

Briefly describe the project:
~This week our focus was getting the whole lab on the internet, using a LAN.

What have you accomplished this week?
~We thought about what we might need to get all the computers at each table to hooked up to the internet with one wire. We tried researching what we might need on the internet, but found nothing. We reasoned that all you need is a few ethernet cables and a router. We made working cable, hooked that up to the router, and got an internet connection.

What problems have you accomplished this week?
~We made a successful internet cable and successfully got an internet connection from the router.

What are the most significant problems you face at this time? What will you do to meet these problems?
~We had a little trouble making the cable (crimping correctly and all that), but other than that, no problems.

What materials or information do you need? How do you plan on getting these materials of information?
~We are all set to move on to the next project.

Wed. October 17---

Briefly describe the project:
~Every day we set up a computer lab in about 5 mins. What we are trying to do now is to get it so that all the computers at each of the tables has internet connection through LAN. Some people are making ethernet cables, and some are researching how to make this LAN work.

What have you accomplished this week?
~We have found computer components that work in order to set up the lab every day. We changed the boot order of the computer and installed ubuntu onto the hard drive of the computer. We are now researching how to get the LAN at our table to work.

What problems have you overcome this week?
~We have encountered no problems except getting the LAN at our table to work, which we are still working on.

What are the most significant problems you face at this time? What will you do to meet these problems?
~Getting the LAN top work. We will have to research it on the internet.

What materials or information do you need? How do you plan on getting these materials or information?
~We need an internet connection to research Ubuntu LANs.

Thurs October 11----

Briefly describe the project:
~Jonathan N. and I found a workibng monitor, keyboard, and computer. We then hooked all of it together and once we got it to work we installed the Ubuntu operating system on it to get the computers ready to be worked with.

What have you accomplished this week?
~We found working parts of a computer, hooked them up and installed the operation system on it.

What problems have you overcome this week?
~Well, we had a few problems finding a working computer and keyboard.

What are the most significant problems you face at this time? What will you do to meet these problems?
~To overcome both of those problems we just had to test different keyboards and
we had to test to see if it wasnt the monitor that wasnt working. It was not the monitor that wasnt working, it was in fact the computer.

What materials or information do you need? How do you plan on getting these materials or information?
~We have overcome all the problems we have encountered so far. We are one of the (I think) two groups at the beginning of class that acutally already had the operating system installed on the comoputer's hardrive.

Fri. September 28-----

Briefly describe the project:
~Jonathan N. and I researched and found information on the Computer Power supply. We answered questions on what kind of information we needed to find then made it into a visual presentation

What have you accomplished this week?
~We have researched our topic (Computer Power Supply). We gathered the information and put it on our wiki. We then made a presentation to the class about our topic. We gathered more information in order to improve upon the points that we were weak on about the power supply. We got enough information to answer all the questions that were asked of us to answer and put that along with some pictures and some props on a poster board and completed our project.

What problems have you overcome this week?
~After doing our presentation Mr. Conners suggested that we know what the different wires that go from power supply do, and what they connect to. We found a diagram on what the wires do and where they go to and labeled the wires.

What are the most significant problems you face at this time? What will you do to meet these problems?
~We did not have any significant problems. Only a few small ones.

What materials or information do you need? How do you plan on getting these materials or information?
~We already got the materials and already put them on the poster, labeled, and explained them.
